There are several weeds that contend for space in our yards. Most are annual or biannual pests. Some of the most common we have identified are henbit, dandelions, plantain, thistle, and horse weed.

If not properly controlled at the beginning of the season they can become a losing battle by the middle of the season. Some of these weeds can be combated by using broadleaf herbicides from Walmart or Lowes. There is always the proven method of spending the day in the yard pulling them by hand. Also there are home remedies one of which is using vinegar as a herbicide, note that vinegar will kill grass as well.

You may decide that all of this is too much work and it is in your best interest to hire a professional. Professionals should be licensed and insured to do the work you contract them to do. There are certain herbicides used by professionals that cannot be purchased by the general public. Also keep in mind it may take several applications to get rid of the more troublesome weeds.

No matter your choice, now is the time to start your assault on the weeds that have begun invading your yard. Maintenance is always required for a beautiful lawn. In the end the cost of Maintenance is always cheaper then the cost of replacement. When it comes to our yards, we must be mindful of our costs, but what price can we put on having an outdoor living space we can enjoy.

Charge less for mowing so you can afford more on maintenance.

Our creed doesn’t just pertain to those in uniform, it extends to all in our coverage area. We are proud of all the people who work hard everyday taking care of their families. So ask yourself, why shouldn’t I have an affordable lawn service and a yard I can be proud of.

Below I have included a soft estimate to give a general idea of our prices. All prices include mowing, edging, trimming and blowing off driveways/walkways, and yes, we offer service without mowing.

Less then a 1/4 acre $20 – $30.
1/4 acre to 1/3 acre $25-$35.
1/3 acre to 1/2 acre $30-$45.

Nothing under a 1/2 acre will ever be over $50. Right, now we are waiving all discounts and just giving them to new customers. What is the catch? We ask you sign our Agreement and don’t wait until your yard is unmanageable to give us a call. What does the Agreement consist of? You agree to pay on time, keep the yard free of pets, children or any item we might damage, and give us 2 week notice before cancelling service. We agree to inform you and take care of any problem incurred by our negligence, incur all cost of equipment, and show up on the scheduled day. For believing in us and trusting us with your yard, we give you a free mow, which is available after 60 days of services. No gimmicks, no catch, straight forward honesty. What you should expect from your Lawn Service.

Today I was talking with a potential customer while passing out fliers about what it would cost to mow their yard. Since I could see the yard, I gave her a quote, $25.00 every two weeks. Her response, “What does that include? Just mowing?” I scratched my head and replied that is for everything, mowing, edging, trimming, and blowing off her driveway. I didn’t understand her look of confusion or surprise. Until, I was informed what her current lawn care provider was charging, $50.00.

Now this confused me and answered several questions I had about my new area of business. Her yard was no more than a 1/3 acre lot, no fence, no obstacles, and only a small area inclined too much for my zero turn mower. What, might you ask did this tell me? That the men and women of the armed forces in this area are paying too much.

I am not a veteran, but my partner is. I am proud of the service he has given this country and proud of the sacrifices our men and women of uniform have made. At Elysium Lawn Service it is our goal to provide a service that honors these men and women. Not only that, but make it affordable for our service members to once again, take pride in their lawns.

The time of year to choose a lawn service is fast approaching. Whether you are looking for a company to just maintain your lawn or make it the envy of the neighborhood, there are things to consider before making your choice.

Here are some basic things to consider before making your choice. Have a general idea of the kind of service you are looking for. Make sure they have the proper licenses and insurance needed to provide quality service. Ask if they have a service agreement. Service agreements, insurance and licenses protect you and the company in case a problem occurs. Also the most important question, are they affordable. Remember to always get estimates and make sure they have the ability to provide the service you desire.

Some of you may ask why care about lawn maintenance. There are several reasons to consider a good lawn maintenance schedule. One of the best reasons is curb appeal. Nothing better then the site of green grass. A healthy lawn provides better protection from disease, weeds, and insects. Proper yard maintenance will cut down on the amount of pesticides and herbicides needed to control the pests in your oasis. Not to mention a 25 square foot patch of green healthy grass provides enough oxygen for a person each day. By following a lawn maintenance program, you are helping your environment and making this a better world for future generations.

When deciding on a lawn service, keep these things in mind on your quest for your ideal lawn.
