Today I was talking with a potential customer while passing out fliers about what it would cost to mow their yard. Since I could see the yard, I gave her a quote, $25.00 every two weeks. Her response, “What does that include? Just mowing?” I scratched my head and replied that is for everything, mowing, edging, trimming, and blowing off her driveway. I didn’t understand her look of confusion or surprise. Until, I was informed what her current lawn care provider was charging, $50.00.
Now this confused me and answered several questions I had about my new area of business. Her yard was no more than a 1/3 acre lot, no fence, no obstacles, and only a small area inclined too much for my zero turn mower. What, might you ask did this tell me? That the men and women of the armed forces in this area are paying too much.
I am not a veteran, but my partner is. I am proud of the service he has given this country and proud of the sacrifices our men and women of uniform have made.
